Forty-five years later, we're getting the band back together

Mid-September 2026 · Reno

Back in the old building — now The Fox Restaurant & Brewery. Staff, customers, friends and fans: everybody who was ever part of it.

What it was

A hamburger and chili parlor that turned into a family.

Two twenty-somethings opened a burger joint in Reno in 1981. Nachos, Texas chili, a wall of taps, and a bar scene that got loud early and stayed loud. We were not trying to build an institution. We were trying to make rent.

What happened instead is that Bailywick's became the place. Through '82, '83, '84, '85 — if you were in Reno and you were young, you came through those doors. You worked a shift, or you closed the place down, or both in the same twenty-four hours. Ten years, a few different owners, and a run that people in this town still talk about.

We built a family without ever knowing that's what we were doing.

We're in our sixties and seventies now. In the last few years we've lost too many of the people who made those rooms what they were — several in just the past six months. So this isn't a memorial. This is a celebration of life, held while we're all still here to enjoy it.

Come back to the building. Tell the stories. Find out what happened to everybody. That's the whole idea.

The plan

One night. The old room. Everybody who was part of it.

Not staff only. If you drank there, ate there, dated somebody who worked there, played there, or just loved the place — you're on the list. Bring up to two guests.
